Water and the Divine Feminine
Throughout history and across countless civilizations, the element of water has been connected to the Divine Feminine, and has been in equal parts worshipped, feared, and honored. Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty, was born of sea foam and revered by sailors who prayed to her for protection from stormy seas. Mermaids are often depicted as beautiful women living in ocean depths too deep for modern exploration, both alluring and deadly. From Arthurian legend we have the "Lady of the Lake," who represents mystery, power, and transformation. All of these figureheads, among others, represent the balance of the soft, yet unyielding nature of the feminine element. Water is the physical representation of everything pure, powerful, and untamed in each of us, and has a way of bringing us back to our core selves.

A Modern Ritual for the Wild Soul
Booking a water session for portraits isn't just "taking pictures." When you open yourself up to this unique experience, you are communing with yourself and the elements - and me, if you'd like. You're free to express yourself however you'd like and channel what you're feeling into the photos. There are fewer practiced poses, less insecurity, and no space for the nagging internal voices of doubt. This is a chance for you to connect to something larger than yourself and let go of anything that does not serve you, if only for the length of a sunset.
Stepping Into Your Own
Water sessions aren't about perfection so much as presence. They're a moment in time where I want you to truly feel and acknowledge being a part of everything in the universe, and that you don't need to be any more than that. What you wear is entirely up to you, and my suggestion is that you choose whatever makes you feel your most powerful. This is for the woman who craves a moment entirely for herself, for the one who feels most alive watching the sunset through dripping hair, for the one who has navigated calm waters as well as strong tides. You don't need to "get ready," because you already are. You just need to show up willing to meet the water and light.
